Columbia, MD, February 2007 – Jordan Bartlett, a 9-year old 4th grader at Atholton Elementary School in Columbia, MD, was happy to sign up to participate in his school’s fundraiser to benefit the American Heart Association. What he didn’t realize at the time is that he would end up being the top fundraiser for not only his school but for all of Howard County as well, and that his father’s place of employment, Timberlake Homes, would play a part in that.
Each year, Jordan’s school hosts the Jump Rope For Heart event that raises funds to support the research and education efforts of the American Heart Association. This was Jordan’s second year of participation, and the event took place on February 8, 2007. To help him raise funds, Jordan’s father, Jason Bartlett, emailed his fellow Timberlake Homes team members notifying them of his son’s participation and encouraging donations for the worthy cause. Upon seeing that email, John Minzer, President of Timberlake Homes, pledged Timberlake Homes to match whatever amount the company’s team members contributed. The end result was that Jordan Bartlett raised $1,000 for the event - making him the top fundraiser at his school.
As top fundraiser, Jordan received a multitude of prizes from the American Heart Association, along with a special medal of honor and recognition letter from the President of the Mid-Atlantic Affiliate of the American Heart Association. To say thank you to those who contributed to his fundraising efforts, Jordan created a collage of photos from the event and presented it to the Timberlake Homes team. The poster is now on display in the Timberlake Homes corporate office in Annapolis, MD.
